The contest
The "Draw a scientist" competition was launched in February 2005, and continued for 9 months before closing down at the end of October the same year. The competition was initiated by Nysgjerrigper, under the auspices of the Research Council of Norway, and the Norwegian Space Centre. Children in the age 6 through 13 were encouraged to draw a scientist, in a way they imagined a scientist at work. More than 260 drawings were submitted. Each month, people could vote for a monthly winner.

Ultimately, the best drawing independent of the monthly results was chosen by representants from Nysgjerrigper and the Norwegian Space Centre. The winner received the award during the annual Astronomy festival in Oslo, in November 2005.
