Processing and interpretation of satellite images During interpretation of aeroplane images one works with photos as an example of what we call analogue images. By this is meant images that are represented directly by a physical size, for instance intensity, dyes or a video signal.

Adjustment and calibration of satellite images
Before interpreting the downloaded image (raw data) an adjustment of images is needed in order to provide an image as representative as possible of the surface of the Earth.
